The boys teams wrapped up this weekend at the Adidas Nationals, their season complete.
Jacob Spezzaferri ran into the Top 5 of both the 100m and the 200m, two events that have been loaded with PA talent the last 10 years. Jacob is now No. 3 All Time on the 100m list, in a 3-way tie with Eduardo Fernandez ’17 and the hand time of Chris Decarlo ’12. The logjam at No. 3 means that Conor Seleny ’20 (a season I will always wish to have seen) moves to No. 6 All Time. Jacob’s time is also No. 3 on the 100m senior list. Over at the half-lap, Jacob’s 22.35 200m at D1 moved him into No. 5 All-Time, again moving Conor Seleny, a D1 Champion in this event, to No. 6 All Time.
Newcomer Jamie Isaac ran an 11.61 in the 100m at D1, and that’s good for No. 3 on the freshman list. His entry bumps Kyle Walker ’22 and Nico Buccieri ’17 from the frosh top 3. Nico made a remarkable 4 year impact on the program, showing the kind of company Jamie is in.
Braydon Parker also got onto the 200m freshman list with a 23.40 at D1. He is No. 2 frosh, ahead of Jason Harris ’05 and bumping Kyle Walker ’22 and Kaycee Scheibert ’18. Only current school record holder Jaydn Ruimwijk ’18 had a faster freshman time.
In the field events, it wouldn’t be a season without someone named Franks getting on a javelin list. Charles Franks makes his freshman debut at No. 3 with his 115’-4” toss at the Merrimack Invite. Colin Bigelow ’17 bumps from that list.
Joe Packowski got in a mammoth throw at the Merrimack Invite, a 148’-10” launch that puts him at No. 2 on the sophomore list. Only multi-event star TJ Urbanik ’16 had a better sophomore mark. Jacob Northrup ’18 is bumped from the list.
There was at least one near miss to mention: Landon Mackiernan ran a 44.76 in the 300m IH at D1, just a tenth off of the No. 3 freshman hand time by eventual school record holder Scott Clegg ’89. (I’m going to find a way to mention the hurdles every time, so here you are)
