Girls and Boys 2022 D1 Champs!

PA-XC is on the podium!

Even from 3,000 miles away I look forward to the divisional championships of New Hampshire XC. Although our weather was nearly the same today, you can’t beat the fall trees of Derryfield and high school athletes putting their all into the races.

The Trailblazers are the 2022 Division 1 Champions, scoring 66 points to Bedford’s 70. Tess Silva was the number 1 runner for the Astros, placing 2nd overall with a fine time of 19:23.2. That’s the highest placed runner the team has had since Morgan Sansing took 2nd place in both 2013 and 2014. And as an aside, the only other runner I have in 1st or 2nd going back to 1990 is Ashley Morganstern’s victory in 1st in 2005. This is the first championship since the Trailblazers’ string of victories from 2015 to 2018. Here’s the final finishes:

  1. Tess Silva, 2nd, 19:23.2
  2. Izzy Groulx, 7th, 20:10.4
  3. Althea LeBlanc, 16th, 20:38.6
  4. Gabby Bedard, 20th, 20:51.0
  5. Sarah Rzasa, 21st, 20:52.1
  6. Kalisan Marzlof, 28th, 21:04.1
  7. Grace Jellow, 56th, 22:49.7

Congrats to the runners, Coach Jon Alizio, and Coach Amy Bernard!

Over on the boys’ side, The Long Red Line showed what depth can do. They took the championship with 80 points, finishing comfortably ahead of Windham at 142 pts. This is their first title since 2016.

  1. Finn Christianson-Kraft, 11th, 16:50.0
  2. Noah Daigle, 14th, 17:00.0
  3. Nathan Binda, 15th, 17:02.7
  4. Elias Brodeur, 19th, 17:07.4
  5. Theo Davis, 23rd, 17:10.5
  6. Cody Santomassimo, 45th, 17:57.1
  7. Aiden Dowd, 62nd, 18:20.0

Spectacular results for the team and Coach Mike Clark.
