Travis Cavallo broke onto the frosh list of the 55m, moving into a No. 2 tie with Eric Guinto ’10. Eric went on to break the school record the next year, so not bad company.
Matt Morrison’s 36.07 moves him to No. 4 All Time in the 300m. Zach Cicio ’14 drops from the Top 5, Ralph Fast ’92 and Chip Sullivan ’12 drop from the Top 10. Apologies for incorrect info in the FB chat when they posted incorrect 300m times and runners.
Aiden Dowd had a monstrous effort in the 600m, a smoking 1:24.95 and No. 10 All-Time. It was only his second time attempting the 600m and he dropped over 5s from the first mark at PSU. Pat Hanlon ’18 drops from the Top 10 600m.
Jason Robie ran a nice race in the 1000m, just missing the frosh Top 3 by a quarter second. Coach French’s time survives another weekend.
Oliver Gould’s long jump is knocking on the door of the sophomore Top 3, so keep an eye there.
The boys 4x40m team of Caden Michaud, Zack Smith, Matt Morrison, and Aiden Dowd ran into the No. 5 All-Time slot with a 3:31.93. That’s a Top 5 that hasn’t moved in a decade; nice work, gents.
In Providence, the boys throwers, my goodness. Among the many PRs we had Luke DeLangie at 46’-0.25” and Joe Packowski at 46’ even.
Hannah Sippel blasted a 41.80 in the 300m, the second fastest 300m recorded by the Astro girls. She moves up from the No. 4 spot in the all-time lists and takes over the senior record, previously held by Maria Virga ’17. Hannah also holds the junior record in this event.
Camryn McNulty makes a splash into the freshman list of the 300m, standing now at No. 3 with her 44.81. She moves past Alexis Maylor ’10. (We’ve had a lot of records move past Alexis this season, records can be weird sometimes)
Izzy Groulx and Tess Silva put on another show for the Astros in the 1000m. For now, it is Izzy moving past Tess to take over No. 2 on the All-Time list but also the senior record with her 3:03.75. Tess ran a career best of 3:04.17 but slips to No. 3 All-Time, also taking No. 3 on the senior list. Sarah Pelarske ’99 and Beth Pomerleau ’01 fall from the senior Top 3. Jordan Vaillancourt ’16 slips from the All-Time Top 5.
Taylor Nastasi cleared 5’-0” in the high jump, joining three others for the freshman record: Jordan Wheaton ’23, Merissa Zdunko ’07, and Nicki Pelletier ’99. By that same jump, she joins a crowded group in the Top “10,” as there is a 6-way tie for 8th, including Michaela Blackwell ‘15, Caryn Pepin ’09, Jenn Kooken ’02, and Jenn Furstenau ’01.
The 4x200m girls team has done it again, resetting their 4x200m record by a half second to 1:48.98. Congratulations to Eva Roberts, Aislinn Sprague, Nora Brayall, and Hannah Sippel. By taking over a new top spot, they bump the 2016 team of Nicole Alves, Maria Virga, Isabella Fast, and Madi Smith from the Top 5.
The girls 4x800m team took a shot at the 2020 school record, but came up at No. 2. Sarah Rzasa, Parker Knowlton, Izzy Groulx, and Tess Silva came across in a quite impressive 9:47.42. They displace from the Top 5 a team we still recognize from last year: Tess, Grace Jellow ’23, Parker, and Izzy.
Down in Providence, Jameson Trask on her second attempt unleashed a 32’ – 2.75” mark in the shot put. A PR by a foot and a half (a foot and a half!), Jameson is now No. 12 on our All-Time list. She’d be in the top 10 if I hadn’t been a jerk and filled in performances from the 1970s and 80s a few weeks ago! That doesn’t change the fact Jameson deserves the recognition.
